splendors and miseries of pigeons
2018
“And God said: Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:26)
What message do pet cemeteries convey to us? The focous is given to animals that no one cares about, simply because they were born as the "wrong species." I examine the discord between animals and animals (their human interpretation). In mainstream society, this rift in the relationship is apparent and can even be presented through a single species we encounter most often in cities – the pigeon. On one hand, the well-fed pet of the city, and on the other hand, a troublesome creature, against which we defend ourselves with all possible means. The installation of concrete casts is intended for public spaces, as an addition to building windowsills and bus stops.
